Pod Synchronicity

Posted on Jul 13th, 2006 by jdp : Being jdp

Been down and out a few days here.  Keeping up on pods and friends here.  Have some blogs saved up on scrap paper in my busy-pockets (purse).

One I've been meaning to write is another about pods.  Of all I have saved to write its the easiest, so lets start my blog slide recovery with this one.

Since I jumped into zaadz I've been operating on the assumption that if I wanted to see what pods someone else was in I could click somewhere and see.  Or if someone wanted to see what other pods I participated in they could come to my zaadz site and see.

Well danged if that isn't how it works.  In fact, if you've got oodles of time you could go to each pod you belong to, click on members and see everyone (and some have tons of members) else there but you'd have to keep doing that to see who joins.  I merely met someone super nice and wanted to see what else they liked about zaadz.  But alas it is not to be.  So if I had one suggestion for the zaadz masses it'd be even if you don't blog anything else, keep up with pods joined in your blog!

If I wouldn't have gone through the intial pod selection process I'd blogged about earlier I would still probably only belong to "How Good Can It Get" which is on the hottest pod list.

My first pod joined I was invited to and for the life of me I can't remember how that happened.  Could probably check except I think I "archived" the invite and it seems I am not allowed into my archived mail here (so yes, I quit archiving mail here lol.  And I'm sure it isn't zaadz it has to be me :)  It is really bothering me if things blossomed from there or not.  Doesn't matter.  I don't even think it was the pod for me.  But from there began the exploration.  From there I saw what topics might interest me, who to watch for where with common interests.

All I know is it seemed that zaadz had a pod for every interest or concern in my life.  I chose them all.  Many were similar.  I perused, peeked and posted some.  Some were huge! (ok and a wee bit scary).  Some were cozy and just right.  Sadly some I really love are still fledgling.

I had an original pledge to myself to keep my pod list manageable so I could be a real participant in each pod, each day.  I thought it would be hard to do.  But the process seems to have taken on a life of its own.

The Beloveds Teahouse in turn gave me Fands Tearoom.  One speaks to my multifaceted quest for Connection and the other to my inborn love of fantasy, myth and ancient lore that still peek into our lives today.  Soups On! I think is my zaadz home, my treasured escape.

Someone sent me a lovely mail about my living simply goal which led me to Voluntary Simplicity, Eco, and Green Building & Clean Energy.  I'm so excited to get to learn in these pods.  I think I'm doing well with Voluntary Simplicity but I am an Eco-baby.

Cook it. Go. and Realizing Health, well, both attracted me because my health and what I eat are so intimately connected.  Not just in theory either.  As I posted in one or both of them, I have/had Grave's Disease and Celiac disease.  If I can ever recall the books I scoured on the topics I'll have to post the title of the one that taught me I might be able to prevent such awful things from happening to my son even though his genetics means he is now "predisposed" to having an autoimmune disease.

What was more amazing to me was I had recently mailed a zaadster about finding a specific sort of pod.  When told there was none it also included a "perhaps you should start" type message.  I scoffed!  It was a subject I was clueless and confused in.  I certainly am not one to be growing such a pod.  And I said something like "if I were to start a pod it would be for those recovering or learning to move on after severe illness but who wants to hang around and listen to me whine".  POOF!  I'm not kidding, like the next day "Realizing Health" was in the new pods list.

Of course I had to join the Pennsylvania @zaadz pod because I LOVE where I live (which I think sort of in turn orbits within or around my Eco-interests (the birthplace of the oil well, the rust belt but so much green and good:).  And Diane understands why I love where I live :) psst - see my photos.

A secret passion of mine is writing.  So I joined, I think, every related pod on zaadz.  Not one remains on my pod list.  For now I think my writing is still for me.  The coward in me says I didn't see anything to relate to there.  But really?  I think it's just a way of not reminding myself its been a year since writing my first "keeper" and I should be doing something with it.  But I know those pods are there should I ever decide to "be a writer".  Those participants were writers, brave souls who share themselves with others.

Spiritual Parenting and Parenting Instruction Manual were natural draws for me.  My greatest joy is my son and, as I might have said either in an earlier blog or in a post in one or the other, my son is my greatest spiritual teacher.  Sounds corny but if you knew him you'd know what I mean.  I've worked with children, met some amazing children.  All have been special and unique.  Of course I think my own son is.  But as much as I try not to be a parental cliche, when I look at him (from the moment his face was first visible) I see Peace and Love which Connects me more than I understand even yet.  Other people comment to me on "his spirit".  My sister, a deeply religious Catholic, said at his birth "He came out praying, kissed by angels".  For real?  His hands looked like they were glued in the prayer position and I couldn't stop laughing thinking poor kid needs to be getting a head start on his prayers.  His angel kiss?  What I now call his dirty nose?  His dad is convinced it comes from our sweet but departed Shoto's soul.  She watched over him as long as she could.  Instead of shrinking as most birth marks do as kids age, his only grows.  Me?  I'm just wondering if it isn't a permanent bruise from me running into things while pregnant.

As you can see, there are many different loves, joys and interests in my life and zaadz's pods touches them all and I couldn't be more appreciative.  But my first friendship at zaadz makes me feel as if I can give back if even a tiny practical bit.  Thank you wizetree for welcoming me so and not telling me I'm clueless :) And thank you to Kathryn for starting a pod that sums it all up and validates my aimlessness (another blog in itself) - Renaissance Soul, Renaissance Life.  I think my favorite pod of all (but really the one I'm sitting in, tapping my foot saying "Helloooooooo, anyone out there?").  Its hanging there by a thread as I realized I have probably 3 too many pods to keep up with in the computer time I have IF I want to keep blogging so Jax won't keep coming back here to kick me in the rear (ref my 1st blog's comments ;)

So there it is, how wonderful it seems that there just happens to be a pod for all I love and even a pod with the potential to sum up all I love (RS, RL).

For the easier version to see where all I pod (at the moment) see below.  And I think I'll make it a standing rule when I join or leave a pod I'll note it here along with the why referring to this first Pod Synchronicity or just add it as a comment or something (how do you keep this stuff organized?).

Alright!  Been more than a month since I wrote this and since then my pods have probably changed a million times!  Interests change, activity level changes…. I'm trying to keep my number of pods down but sometimes my list looks out of control!  I have seen people keep their pod list in their profile.  That might be easier to do and I'll be working on that.  I'll still post the occassional blog post about awesome pods I unearth (groan, sorry).
